This handy little sander makes sanding at the lathe a lot simpler. It's cheap and straightforward to build with easy-to-find materials. It works with a spinning pad attached to a handle and small, easy-to-find sandpaper disks aättached to the pad with Velcro. To use it, you only need to hold the sandpaper against your workpiece. It will sand and spin at the same time, which has many advantages:
- Random scratch-pattern of sanding marks
- Even usage of the sandpaper due to the rotation
- Less heating of the sandpaper and longer life span
- Dust that normally builds up in the sandpaper gets removed better due to the spinning
